Kodava Thalia Puttu Recipe - Steamed Rice & Coconut Cakes is an authentic recipe from Coorg. The batter is made using soaked rice, fenugreek seeds, urad dal and fermented overnight with some coconut milk and sugar.
This makes the batter quite soft and fluffy when it is steamed over an Idli steamer. Authentically the Thalia Puttu is fermented using some Toddy water which helps to give the right aeration in the batter.
These Thalia are quite similar to sana but the only difference is the addition of urad dal in the former.
